السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
I belong to a religious family, to some extent. I've always seen my mother wearing an abaya or in modest clothing even if not wearing an abaya.
I always wanted to be like her and I was also influenced by few of my teachers and fellows. I've been blessed with the best teachers Alhamdullilah... ❤
I started doing hijab when I was in 5th grade.
Before doing hijab I started carrying big Dupattas, most people started calling me Amma, auntie etc. But this didn't stopped me from doing hijab. After that when I was in 8th or 9th standard, I don't remember exactly, randomly one day I decided to do niqab. I started doing Niqab. Alhamdullilah my mother was very supportive.
After one year I decided that I want to wear an abaya because it felt incomplete but my mother was not allowing me because she thought that I'm doing this as an experiment and I'm going to quit this after some time. She didn't even bought me an abaya. I started wearing her old abaya. That abaya was torned from different places, some buttons were also missing, I used to button up that abaya with Safety pins. I wore that abaya for more than 2 weeks. When my mother noticed that I'm being stubborn she bought me a new abaya... 😅🤭
I continued doing niqab Alhamdullilah, but it was not that easy. I had to listen to many things. Still some times people call me Jahil, paindu, Backward etc but I don't care because I'm doing for the Sake of Allah Swt.
One more thing that I only used to do niqab out side of my family. But few years back I decided I want to do proper niqab. My mother was not letting me do it because she used to think, I'm not going to get married, I'll not be able to move with the society etc but Alhamdullilah I'm doing my Masters in Industrial Biotechnology from NUST.
I kept convincing her for more than 2 years. Finally I decided that I'm going to start doing proper niqab and I'm not going to ask for anyone's permission.
But Alhamdullilah my Amma agreed and it's been almost 3 months that I've started covering my face from my Cousins as well.
It's about 10 years now since I started carrying niqab in 2012 or 2013.
Alhamdullilah it's been a Beautiful journey but yes it has it's ups and downs as well. And I'm not sure what I'm going to face in my coming life but one thing is for sure that I'm never going to compromise on my Niqab no matter what In Sha Allah ❤
